End of Year Message
For business leaders in a time of national mourning
As we wrap up the year reflecting on all the goodness of the Pro Purpose® movement in 2025, Australia finds itself in a very different moment.
Like many of you, I watched the events in Bondi over the weekend with shock and deep sadness.
Over the last couple of days, I couldn’t help but notice the silence or awkwardness of businesses on social media. The normal hustle bustle of selling, promoting and pushing forward online slowed - because suddenly what we would normally say or share felt insignificant in the big scheme of things. Tragedy has a funny way of putting things into perspective like that.
This year I came across a powerful quote:
"Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding at something that doesn't really matter."
As we end this year in what may feel like an unexpected halt in momentum, where showing up boldly in the way we usually do feels uncomfortable or even tone-deaf, I want to encourage you to use this moment for reflection.
Ask yourself: Does what I’m building really matter?
If the answer is yes, that’s amazing! Keep going.
If you’re unsure, perhaps 2026 is your year to build with more intention, more meaning, more purpose.
Have a restful break over Christmas with your loved ones.
Yours in purpose,
Alana Nicholls
