Julius Achon

Julius brings an inspiring story of hope. He grew up in the remote village of Awake in Northern Uganda in severe poverty. At the age of 11, he was captured by rebels from... the LRA and forced to become a child soldier. Eventually escaping, Julius witnessed the murder of his 9 friends while fleeing.
Going on to discover his athletic talent, Julius defied all odds to follow his passion for running - qualifying for a district competition, Julius could not afford the bus ticket so ran the 72km in 4 hours to make the carnival - which he went on to win. His talent culminating in being flag bearer for Uganda at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
